Fast rounds, a good bar, and a pro shop full of good people keep this in regular rotation. Just budget for non-resident rates and don’t expect tour-quality greens.
Silver Lake Country Club – Rolling Hills
Highly recommend Silver Lake Rolling Hills for anyone in the area, especially if you want an early 9 that does not take up your whole day. And if you have more time, the North and South courses at Silver Lake are worth the trip too.

Overview
Silver Lake has three courses, but Rolling Hills is the one I play the most. It is the 9 hole layout, and it is my go to for an early round when I do not have four hours to give up. Early in the AM I can walk this in a little over an hour. Mostly par 3s with two par 4s mixed in, and honestly only one hole where you really get to grip it and rip it, the par 4 fourth. If you are looking for a long, grinding test of golf, this is not it. If you want a well kept, easy going round before the day gets away from you, it is exactly it.
I have played both of the 18 hole courses at Silver Lake too, and they are great, but I just do not have the time for a full loop most weeks anymore. Rolling Hills lets me still get my golf in without blowing up the whole morning.

What’s good
- Course is incredibly well maintained for a shorter layout
- Clubhouse, pro shop, and bar staff are genuinely great
- Big driving range plus lessons, leagues, and kids classes
- Perfect for an early 9 when you are short on time
- Great spot to just meet up, the bar and restaurant are big
What’s not
- Mostly par 3s, so if you want length you will not find much of it here
- Only one hole (#4) where you really get to swing away off the tee

If you are anywhere in the south Chicago suburbs, put this course on your list. Rolling Hills is not going to test your length, but it is beautifully kept, easy to get around fast, and the people running the place make it worth the trip on its own. I would love a little more yardage, but that is a minor complaint for a course I keep going back to.
